CoPuppet: Collaborative Interaction in Virtual Puppetry
نویسندگان
چکیده
CoPuppet is a framework for the development of performances of virtual puppetry. In particular, it defines a class of interactive systems in which to realize collaborative performances involving several puppeteers. Users are able to control puppets’ body parts and interact with the puppets by producing gestures which are captured by video devices and translated into control parameters for the puppet movements. Moreover, a storyteller realizes another form of control, as the sounds captured by a microphone are used to steer in real time mouth movements and facial expressions of the virtual puppet on the screen. The result of such interactions will see the emergence of a cooperative management of the puppets’ movements.

Pictures at an Exhibition: Design of a Hybrid Puppetry Performance Piece
Pictures at an Exhibition is a physical/digital puppetry piece that uses tangible interface puppets to modify a virtual scene projected at the back of the stage in real-time. The piece merges traditional puppeteering practices with tangible interaction technologies and virtual environments to create a novel performance for the live stage. This paper describes the design and development of piece...
متن کاملCell Phone Puppets: Turning Mobile Phones into Performing Objects
We introduce Puppettime, a digital puppetry project that uses mobile phones as interfaces to control virtual puppetry via motion gestures. The goal of the project is to explore cell phones as performative objects in novel interaction designs. Combining the evolution of mobile devices into tangible interfaces with traditional puppetry, the paper discusses the connections between these domains. I...
متن کاملMoving digital puppets
the term “machinima” has been diluted into different practices using different tools (Nitsche 2007), but we argue in this chapter that game-based machinima remains a form of digital puppetry in which the virtual characters in a real-time game engine are used to perform an event and often to tell a story. The players’ interactions are translated into the movements and expressions of these virtua...
متن کاملAnyone for Tennis?
In this paper we present a Virtual Tennis Game. We describe the creation and modeling of the virtual humans and body deformations, also showing the real time animation and rendering aspects of the avatars. We focus on the virtual tennis ball animation and the behavior of the Synthetic Autonomous Referee, who judges the tennis games. The networked collaborative virtual environment system is desc...

This study aimed at investigating the potential of collaborative and e-collaborative writing modalities in developing interactional complexity, utilization of interactional demonstrators and density of interaction. To this end, 66 Iranian intermediate female English as foreign language learners (EFL) were selected to participate in this study according to their scores on Oxford Placement Test (...
